The National PTA Reflections Program is an arts recognition and achievement program for students. The Reflections Program provides opportunities for students to express themselves creatively and to receive positive recognition for original works of art inspired by a pre-selected theme, while increasing community awareness on the importance of the arts in education. Participation in the Reflections Program is a great way for students to explore and learn about various art forms. Creating art is a valuable learning process that challenges students to use their critical thinking skills as well as their creative talents to create art that supports a specific theme.
Florida PTA Category guidelines: Please click on the category links below to open up the guidelines. Students can enter as many categories as they like, but only one entry per category.
Information for the 2024-2025 Process:
- Entry forms: All artwork submissions must include the completed Student Submission Entry Form signed by a parent/guardian. Hardcopy entry forms will be distributed by PTSA Reflections chairs at the Reflections table on September 18, 19 and 20, between 8:00am-8:30am in/near the courtyard. Entry forms are also available in Student Affairs – or print your entry form here.
- Review the rules for the respective category/categories of interest (click links above).
- The student then completes their artwork. Students can submit artwork in as many categories as they like (one submission per category). A separate entry form is required for each entry.
- Artwork submission: All artwork and entry forms will be collected by Newsome PTSA on October 16 and 17, between 8am-8:30am, in the media center.
- Blind judging will take place according to the National PTA judging standards by art professionals in each category. Judges consider interpretation of the Reflections theme (40 pts), creativity (30 pts) and technique (30 pts).
- The top three submissions in each category at Newsome will advance to the Hillsborough County Reflections competition, which takes place in November 2024. In January 2025, the Hillsborough County Council PTA will announce county level winners selected to advance to Florida state judging.
- The Florida State PTA Reflections committee will announce state level winners selected to advance to national level judging in March 2025.
- National PTA winners are announced on May 1, 2025.
