16-1 for 2017 Season, Sweet 16 in the State

Newsome Boys Lacrosse won their fourth straight District Championship this year behind a stellar senior class. In the four years that Lacrosse has been a varsity sport in Hillsborough County, Newsome boys have the winningest record in the county winning 58 games while loosing only 9.

Newsome relied heavily on the play and leadership of co-MVPs Christian Avalos and Connor Florich this season, in addition to Captains Logan Patterson and Ben Allinder.

Newsome Boys also led the county in All-County selections this year:

  • Cameron Kitchiner, Logan Patterson and Ben Allinder were Honorable Mention All-County.
  • Hunter Turner, Kevin Mieczkowski and Andrew Simonsen were Second Team All-County.
  • Cole Jackson, Connor Florich and Christian Avalos were First Team All-County.
  • Coach Eric Blackburn was voted All-County Coach of the Year for the third time in four years.
  • Hunter Turner won the 2017 Iron Man Award for winning 75% of his 379 face-offs while also scoring 40 points for the Wolves.
  • Starting Goalie Jacob Epstein was awarded the Coaches Award for his teamwork, dedication, and work ethic throughout the season.

The Wolves had a great season and are looking forward to picking up where they left off in 2018.
