Newsome requires summer reading for Honors English and AP classes. Summer reading is recommended for all students as a means of broadening their base of knowledge, keeping verbal skills fresh and preparing for standardized tests. Colleges and universities across the nation have suggested reading lists for incoming freshmen. The works below are included on those recommended lists. 16-1 for 2017 Season, Sweet 16 in the State Newsome Boys Lacrosse won their fourth straight District Championship this year behind a stellar senior class. In the four years that Lacrosse has been a varsity sport in Hillsborough County, Newsome boys have the winningest record in the county winning 58 games while loosing only 9. Newsome relied heavily on the play and leadership of co-MVPs Christian Avalos and Connor Florich this season, in addition to Captains Logan Patterson and Ben Allinder.
